I studied to be a history professor until seductive counter culture sirens lured my ship astray. Eventually, I wanted to re-join the mainstream but not one that ran through a university. So, what to do with a briefcase of liberal art degrees? Drive a taxi or sell antiques. I have a lousy sense of direction.
Today, I'm a docent, write a monthly column for Northeastern Antiques Journal, and conduct antiques appraisal clinics. My book, Grand Entrances--a celebration of artistic San Francisco storefronts--is published by Penguin/Putnam. I'm a regular contributor on current topics for a variety of websites.
